America Truck Driving School Recommended By National Lineman Careers
America Truck Driving School was recently featured in an article by National Lineman Careers, a leading portal for connecting with lineman apprenticeship programs, technical schools and all things lineman career related.
Aspiring linemen may benefit from having a commercial driver’s license (CDL) when applying for apprenticeships or entry level positions in the field. A CDL is required to operate large, heavy, or hazardous materials vehicles.
According to the National Lineman Careers article, “recent research of lineman positions available across the country [reveal that] the vast majority require a valid CDL upon applying, require the acquisition of a CDL upon hiring, or require applicants obtain a CDL within 60 days of starting a job with their company.”
How to Obtain a CDL as a Lineman
To qualify for CDL, linemen must be at least 21 years of age, complete and submit a CDL application, pay the licensing fee, provide proof of identity and Social Security, complete the Medical Examination Report Form and Medical Examiner’s Certificate Form, and pass a vision test.
National Lineman Careers recommends America Truck Driving School to linemen looking for commercial driving training. The instructors at America Truck Driving School will train students to follow the special rules for driving a commercial vehicle, safely and properly maneuver a commercial vehicle, inspect their vehicle for defects, and adhere to reporting requirements.
What to Expect During a CDL Test
During a general vehicle inspection, applicants will be asked to point to or touch the parts of the vehicle they are inspecting and explain what kinds of defects they are looking for. Next, the examiner will ask the applicant to perform three different exercises demonstrating their ability to safely maneuver a commercial vehicle. Applicants will lose points if their vehicle or trailer crosses a boundary line during the test.
The third part of the CDL test is the road test, which will last between 30 and 45 minutes. The examiner will tell the applicant which maneuvers to make and will take note of the applicant’s performance. The final score will be used to determine if the applicant should receive a CDL.
