Do I need any experience driving a truck?
No. Most of our students start from zero. One graduate came in without knowing how to drive a stick shift and left with a Class A license and a job.
What do I need to enroll?
You need to be at least 18, or 21 to drive across state lines. You also need a valid driver license, an acceptable driving record, a DOT physical and drug test, and your social security card. A high school diploma or GED is required, or you can use your Class C license instead.
Can my driving record keep me out?
It can. A DUI or similar conviction in the last three years, three or more moving violations in the last two years, or certain felony convictions can disqualify you. A driving record waiver may be possible in some cases.
How long does it take?
Our full time Class A program is 6 weeks, 7:00am to 3:30pm. One on one programs are scheduled over 6 to 10 weeks, and you have up to 6 months to finish. You book 2 hour sessions between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday.
How much does it cost, and can I get help paying?
Call for current pricing and promotions. Financing is available on certain programs. We are approved for WIOA, EDD, and Department of Rehabilitation funding. We do not take federal financial aid.
Do you help with the DMV test?
Yes. When you graduate, we book your DMV skills test and provide the truck and a licensed employee at no extra cost. If you do not pass, we book your retest.
Do you help with finding a job?
Yes. Our staffing team shares openings from local and long distance carriers with students and graduates. Placement is not guaranteed.
Is training taught in English?
Yes, as federal testing rules require. You need to read and speak enough English to understand road signs, talk with officials, and fill out logs. A high school diploma or GED shows that, or we can check it in a short interview.
What is ELDT?
Entry Level Driver Training is a federal rule. Since February 2022, first time Class A and Class B applicants must complete approved training before taking the DMV skills test. Our theory training follows the ELDT curriculum.
