5 New Year’s Resolution Ideas for Truck Drivers in 2021

If 2020 wasn’t your favorite year and you’re looking forward to making some positive changes in 2021, here are a few New Year’s resolution ideas for truck drivers.

    1.Eat healthier

For truck drivers, it can be especially difficult to stick to healthy foods. With truck stops packed with processed snacks, sugary drinks and fast food, truck drivers have to be extra proactive in planning their meals. A few ways to break a bad eating habit is to replace sodas with water or juice, replace salty chips with air-popped and whole grain popcorn, and to choose black tea over coffee to help limit caffeine intake.

    2. Exercise regularly

Thought hitting the gym every day may not be an option for most truck drivers, there are still plenty of ways to get creative with exercise. While on break, truckers can do a few sets of push-ups and sit ups or do a couple exercises with a pair of dumbbells. Truckers can even exercise to workout videos on YouTube and other platforms to help them stay motivated. If there’s one thing COVID-19 has taught us, working out at the gym is only one option when it comes to staying fit.

    3. Be proactive with truck maintenance

Just like truckers need to look after their own health, it’s important to keep up with truck maintenance and not slack off. Before hitting the road, truckers should take a few minutes to inspect their truck and make all of the necessary repairs, whether it’s replacing windshield wipers and gaskets or changing the oil. By taking care of seemingly minor issues before getting behind the wheel, truck drivers can avoid bigger problems once they’re out on the road.

    4. Commit to staying calm to avoid road rage

It can be tough for experienced truck drivers to overlook some of the dangerous mistakes made by young or reckless drivers. In 2021, truck drivers of all experience levels should commit to controlling their emotions and staying calm. This is the right thing to do for everyone’s safety.

    5. Reach out to old friends

Being out on the road for long periods of time can get lonely if truck drivers don’t make an effort to connect with family and friends. During a break, truckers should reach out to old friends and catch up on old times. After all, laughter with old friends is the best medicine. And we could all use some good health in 2021.
