The Return of the Truck that Never Went Away
Cabover fans rejoice! The Freightliner Argosy is alive and well, and available through most DTNA dealers in North America – as a glider kit.
While many were glad to see them go, cab-over-engine chassis designs still appeal to a small but loyal sector of the industry. Many will be surprised to learn that the Argosy COE never completely disappeared. According to Don White, manager for Cab and Glider Sales for Daimler Trucks North America, the fully assembled truck was taken out of production due to low market demand in 2006, but it has remained on the books in the NAFTA countries as a glider kit ever since. Diesel Particulate Pollution Down 50%
The California Air Resources Board last week heard the research findings from six experts describing the potent and near-term contribution to climate change posed by black carbon, methane and hydrofluorocarbons. The scientists also explained that reducing emissions of these short-lived global warming compounds would be a highly effective strategy to mitigate the impacts of climate change, especially in Arctic regions.

FMCSA To Study Heavy Vehicle Violations
In an effort to better understand the safety performance of heavier vehicles, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and the Federal Highway Administration are partnering to implement the Specialized Heavy Vehicle Inspection Study Cooperative Agreement that will provide funding to state agencies responsible for large truck roadside safety inspections.
