Download Now! 3 Apps to Help Truck Drivers Stay Awake
First comes the yawns. Then the long blinks and the lost time. Did you nod off? Hard to say for sure. More yawns, more blinks, then the rumble strip on the side of the road jolts you awake. Few things are more nerve-wracking for truck drivers than falling asleep at the wheel. Not only does it put the driver’s life at risk, but it also endangers everyone on the road.
Thankfully, there are many steps truck drivers can take to make sure they drive responsibly. One such step involves using smartphone apps designed to help drivers stay awake at the wheel. Read on to find out more.
1. Drive Awake (iOS and Android)
Drive Awake works by positioning your phone on your dash where it can scan your eyes via the selfie camera. As long as your eyes are open, the app runs silently. The moment you close your eyes, however, an alarm will sound. If you find that the alarm goes off, chances are you need to pull over for a nap.2. Stay Awake (iOS Only)
Stay Awake also features an alarm meant to wake you if you get drowsy. However, it goes about this a little differently than Drive Awake. While Drive Awake’s alarm goes off if you close your eyes, Stay Wake requires you to press a “Reset” button on your smartphone screen at regular intervals. Failure to hit the button will trigger the alarm to go off. The interaction that this phone app requires offers an excellent way to stay alert at the wheel.3. Anti Sleep Driver (Android Only)
Anti Sleep Driver offers a novel solution to drowsy driving. We’ve all heard about blue light on our smartphones screens and their negative impact they have on sleep. Anti-Sleep Driver harnesses that negative impact and turns it into something positive. By turning your smartphone screen in a saturated blue light, they claim that staring at the screen for a minute or two while on a break will have an anti-sleep effect.Staying awake at the wheel is not just important; it’s a matter of life and death and a truck driver’s solemn responsibility. By utilizing these featured apps during those long hauls, it will be easier for you to stay awake and keep the road safe.
